Part 2 of the Survival Series: How To Make Money in Isolation.

     Salutations to you all locked in your homes with nothing to do but stare into your screens for long hours on end (A/N: I thank you all because you guys are the reason I'm doing this) or those who conversate with their family members from time to time instead of socially distancing themselves while at home and only coming out for air once the food gets announced. I'm sure by now, for those money-conscious individuals out there, we are already thinking of ways to make some money within the ease and safety of our homes and, like me, are coming up short of good ideas. Well for the sake of the dough, let's hope this post finds you some good fortune soon.
     Contrary to what you believe, there are many ways to make money from the comfort of your home. It all comes down to the following questions: What can you achieve? What skills do you have? Can these skills be monetised? Can these skills be improved? Answering those questions, first of all, will surely guide you in your choice for a money-making endeavour.

WHAT CAN YOU ACHIEVE?
   To achieve, in simpler terms, means To succeed in something. In all our struggles, we want to prosper in them. So starting something that would give us money should naturally excel because if it didn't work then what are we doing it for in the first place? Yes, we might love the work, but at the end of the day, bills need to be paid. When starting a business venture, it needs to be something you see yourself finishing. You can't just start then along the way - if you're fortunate enough to have made back your capital; you give up and pursue yet another quick money strategy. Whatever the goal or intention is, you'll need to have the desire to achieve that expected result you want.

WHAT SKILLS DO YOU HAVE?
   Your skillset comes down to your strengths and abilities. With schools on lockdown, this gives us the perfect opportunity to hone the skills we hardly thought were useful since they may differ from the degrees we pursue.


CAN THESE SKILLS BE MONETISED?
   Finding out what your skillset is composed of is just the first step. You need to think if these skills can bring in some cash. Let's say, for example; you're good at computer stuff like graphics design, animations, Corel draw and programming. You can offer your services to people around the country or even the world right from the comfort of your living room with nothing more than determination, a computer system, good 'in the zone' type music and loads of coffee. If you're good at writing, you can offer your services for people who need portfolios, works that need editing, proofreadings and copywriting to be done. If you're funny, there are plenty of apps you can use to share your 'funny' with the world. People with comedic skits on social media get enough exposure which indirectly brings lots of sponsors which, of course, brings in the cash. So whatever your talent is, there is a job out there waiting for you.
A/N: The skillset I enlisted are ideal for getting customers in our present situation. Skills like catering or anything involving contact with people, though essential, are not sort out for due to the social distancing regulations. So while such skills are amazing, you should just pause a bit until this whole thing is over.


CAN THESE SKILLS BE IMPROVED?
   In everything we do, there is always room for improvement. No matter how much of a 'guru' you can be, even gurus need to brush up on their skills. Change is constant, and as such, we need to change as well. Get new ideas on how you can improve your tech and editing skills. Luckily, some sites can help you with just that. Either it's an improvement, or you want to add to the skills you already have, the internet can help you find what you're looking for.


   Let's not let the boredom and dormancy that comes with the lockdown keep us from exploring the possibilities for earning some sort of living. 
Put those skills to use:(Get on Fiverr) or (Try Upwork) 
Improve on your skills:(take a course online via Coursera) 
Do a skit or two on TikTok or Instagram. 
If you're already a significant influencer online, help out a friend who wants to get in the game. 
Write a story or article or blog and get friends to help you share your work(A/N: THIS IS FOR YOU GUYS READING THIS. PLEASE. HELP. A. BROTHER) and don't ever stop achieving.

FEMINISM IS... DRIVING A BIG RED TRUCK.

       I know a woman. She drives a big red truck. Whenever she takes the truck out for a drive, no matter where she goes, people tend to look at her. Some stare out of awe from the beauty and sheer size of the machine. Some stare out of jealousy as they wish to be in the driver's seat of this vehicle. Some stare out of some preconceived notion that a woman should not be driving such a magnificent car. BE AS SALT(ED)

It was corn season and on one fateful evening, my mother (A/N: This woman really needs to start paying me for making her my muse in most of my articles) decided to go out in search of roasted corn and pear or ubé in our dialect. After driving through various streets- seeing as that was where most vendors took up shop as a result of the lockdown of the markets in the state- we came across an elderly woman who took up a small space in front of an electronics/furniture shop. She really didn't stick out like the other sellers nearby but merely looking at her, you could tell that her roasted corn would be nice and without much surprise they were. I love roasted corn, but I always wondered what made them so sweet when the process only involved setting raw corn on a charcoal stove and giving it time to roast.
